FIRST EVER SLQS-UAE Vs SLQS-OMAN CRICKET ENCOUNTER
IN Muscat - SULTANATE OF OMAN

It was a historical day for the Sri Lankan Quantity Surveyors living in the United Arab Emirates and Sultanate of Oman. For the first time of the sporting history of professionals, SLQS-UAE and SLQS-OMAN met at the Petroleum Development Oman - PDO Grounds in Oman on 15th May 2009 to play their first ever Cricket tournament.

The event was initiated by SLQS-UAE and intended to strength the relationships among Sri Lankan professional communities, living within the region. The concept was well accepted by SLQS-OMAN and both SLQS-UAE and SLQS-OMAN were successfully able to put the first step of a long way for a new era.

Three matches limited to 10 overs were scheduled to play between two teams and, SLQS-OMAN became the winner of SLQS-UAE and SLQS-OMAN trophy by winning first two matches consecutively.

Nalinda Kularathne (SLQS-OMAN) who got 4 wickets for 24 runs in 3.4 overs with some valuable runs of 13 in both games was selected as the man of the series. It was one of the remarkable moments of the day when, Nalinda gave away his trophy to Jude (SLQS-OMAN) who scored an excellent inning of unbeaten 53 runs with 4 sixes and 4 boundaries.

Mr. Palitha Premasiri and Mr. Upali Marasinghe were participated in presentation ceremony and the winning trophy was presented by Mr.Thushara Indika to the winning team Captain Greshan.

A similar cricket match was played with Indian Quantity Surveyors in UAE and SLQS-UAE in Nov. 2008.

 
 
 

SLQS-UAE Donated Gel-Socks to Disabled Heroes  – SF HQ - Seeduwa

Sri Lankan Quantity Surveyors Group, a professional Sri Lankan expatriates group in United Arab Emirates have donated nearly Rs. 675,000.00 worth of high quality  to Duragel Pin-liner 6mm think gel socks and 5 ply Comfortzone Double Socket gel-socks to disabled war heroes of Special Forces at the Seeduwa Rana Viru Sevana on 23rd April 2009.

This contribution is a part of a series of donations of medical gel-socks by SLQS-UAE to the war heroes of the nation who are fighting for the national unity and protection of the motherland from terrorism.


On behalf of SLQS-UAE, Mr. Sunil Dharmadasa handed over the gel-socks to Major Upendra Karunarathna of Special Forces, Seeduwa.

 

SLQS-UAE Donated Rs. 1.3m to Institute of Technology University of Moratuwa

SLQS -UAE has the pleasure of associating with yet another worthy project which will benefit  the group of students  of Institute of Technology University of Moratuwa (ITUM).  The project of procurement of a bus for students of the ITUM was  organized by the diplomats  working in Gulf region, who have passed out from the University of Moratuwa in response to  the request made by the students Union of National Diploma in Technology(NDT).  The target amount for the procurement of 58 seater, brand new Ashok Leyland bus was SLR 3,760,500.00 and part of this has been collected by the organizers,  majority  of them are members of the SLQS-UAE.

In the mean time Professor Indrawansa Samaratunga, also a product of NDT, agreed to conduct a workshop of ‘Sound Contract Administration for Quantity Surveyors’ on behalf of SLQS-UAE as a part of it’s Continuing Professional Development Programme  for a nominal fee and he requested SLQS-UAE to donate all proceeds to the above bus project under the patronage of SLQS-UAE. On behalf of SLQS-UAE, Committee Member Mr. Edward Jayatunga has handed over the bank order of SL Rs 1,300,000.00 to the Director of  ITUM, Dr. T.A. Gunasekara.


This donation of SLQS-UAE will assist them to conclude the bus project with the immediate effect and SLQS-UAE, wishes all ITUM students a pleasant studying environment.

SLQS-UAE Contribution to Rana Viru Sevana – Ragama

Sri Lankan Quantity Surveyors Group, a professional Sri Lankan expatriates in United Arab Emirates have donated nearly Rs. 400,000.00 worth of high quality form mattress to disabled war heroes at the Ragama Rana Viru Sevana.

This contribution is a part of a series of forthcoming donations of medical gel-socks by SLQS-UAE to the war heroes of the nation who are fighting for the national unity and protection of the motherland from terrorism.

On Behalf of SLQS-UAE, Mr. Wasantha Edirisinghe handed over the mattress to Major Asela Gayanath of Rana Viru Sevena , Ragama
